I Love Monday

I love Mondays.  I don’t see why everyone hates them.  I mean, I kinda get it, you’ve had two days off to relax, and now you have to wake up before dawn and get to work.  That part of Monday isn’t fun, but I just don’t see why people treat Monday is like the redheaded step child.  If any day should be the redhead in the group, it should be Tuesday.  Tuesday brings nothing to the table.  Every other weekday has a motto: Mantic Monday, Humpday Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, and Fist Pump Friday.  Tuesday’s got nothing.

Maybe I like Mondays more than the average person does because I get bored on Funday Sundays and I awkwardly enjoy the hustle and bustle of Mondays.  Or maybe I’m just enjoying this Monday particularly because (1) it was Scott’s last day of rotations and will be graduating in a few weeks and (2) its one day closer to seeing William- we leave on Thirsty Thursday for Tampa!  So maybe I’m not that weird person that likes Mondays….naaaa I’d be lying if I told you it was just this Monday that I’m lovin.

On a side note, Scott and I had a great weekend.  Among many other things, we went to an Italian Food Festival at the Catholic church up the street.  We sampled food from of local Italian restaurants, gelato, and Italian pastries.  I thought it was delicious, however Italian Man himself, Papoose (Scott’s Grandfather) and Scott said the Italian food was “facheesie”.  I also posted my first ever Craigslist post.  We are selling the big jute rug in our living room.  Its time for a change. So far I havn't head from any potential sellers....I'll keep my fingers cross.

Also last weekend, the In-Law family invited me to see a Broadway musical called The South Pacific on Sunday evening.  It was lovely!  The acting, music, and the company were great!  I didn’t really know the story, although apparently it was a major hit back in the day (as in, in the 1950s-my mother’s prime), and I really enjoyed it!  Scott opted out of the event since he had to work that day- although I’m pretty sure he still would have opted out even if he didn’t have to work. Hahaha.

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and an even better Monday.  Next time you are one of the 500 million people that post on facebook how much you hate Mondays, think of what I said…hate Tuesdays.

Final Count Down

Remember when you use to count down to Christmas and summer break as a kid?  That’s how I feel when I count down to May 21st!  Scott will be graduating on May 18th and to celebrate, we are taking a Mediterranean cruise.  We’re just 3 weeks away from complete freedom.  We will be flying into Barcelona for a quick little stay, then hopping on to Celebrity’s Solstice for a 14 day cruise around France, Italy, and Croatia.  To say we’re excited is an understatement.  Since we will be in such a unique part of the world, I’ve been saving all my pennies for some type of memorabilia. Got any suggestions?  A pair of fine Italian loafers?  Custom Italian sandals?  Wine?  Art work?  Pottery?  I’ll take one of all the above.

My sister is so nice and will be lending me her fancy camera so hopefully I’ll have a few semi-professional looking pictures to post (for all 5 of my followers- yes that’s right, I’ve moved up from 4 to 5- booyea).  Here are some pictures of the places we are going!

Warning: High Energy

I completely understand that not everyone has the energy levels that I do.  Ann, my sister, says I talk, walk, and think circles around her- and that when I come and visit, she needs a vacation from my vacation.  When the alarm goes off, I’m ready to hit the gym and get the day rolling.  Work at 6:30am?  No biggie and no caffeine needed.  I can balance 5 projects, 3 communicator boxes, and gilt.com’s 11am sale all at one time.

Jealous?

Don’t be.  Let me teach you the down side of having so much energy.

1st people mistake me as a “go getter”.  Yes, I get things done, but that doesn’t mean I get it done right.  I usually have to redo my work a couple times.  Because I get things done so fast, I get assigned to more work, which would be awesome if my pay was tied to how much work I do-but its not, so that’s a wash.

2nd I don’t make a good house guest or roommate.  When I visit friends and family, I usually try to roll with whatever they want to do.  This is fine and dandy, except their normal weekends are my boring weekends.  Therefore, when I visit people, I try plan it around an event, so they don’t have to attempt to keep me entertained,  because its hopeless.  And if you ever want to hear roommate stories, just ask Taylor Vinson or Katie Pauley.  Most college kids stayed up all night and sleep though their classes-I stayed up all night, took a short nap, then headed off to 8am class and the gym.

3rd people think I’m younger than I actually am-which may or may not be a negative side effect of my energy levels.  Monday, on my way to Dallas, some punk old dude asked me if I go to SMU.  I quickly corrected him and said I’m traveling for business (unfortunately).  After a few minutes of chitchat (I always make nice with the people next to me on airplanes-I get too bored sitting there and listening to music!)  I asked punk old man how he misstated me for a college kid.  He simply responded because I was smiling and wearing a backpack.

For all those people with energy levels lower than mine, I apologize for my spelling/grammar errors, busy body mentality, and constant chatter.  I hope one day to put my energy to good use.  Until that day, I’ll keep smiling and wearing a backpack.

Willam's new kicks

Oooooo What to do on this ugly, muggy, humid day?  Same thing I do almost everyday- shop!  While I have my usual sites I check on a daily basis, Gilt, AnnTaylor, Nordstrom’s, Luluemon, and Ruelala, today I decided to check out something for the cutest kid in town, my nephew William!

The other day, he stole food of a kid’s lunch plate at day care, and the other kid bit William’s hand.  So, when Scott and I go to visit Tampa in 2 weeks, I’m going to teach William self-defense.  The first step of self-defense is to look like a badass.  This is quite simple for a 2 year old, wear some kick ass shoes.  Right now, William’s parental units (Ann & John), have him wearing sissy shoes, such a Crocs, New Balance, or cheap sandals.  This is completely unacceptable.  A kid needs a pair of solid kicks…But nope, his parental units prefer to have him wear fruitcake shoes.  This is why I have spent the better part of my day shopping for a pair of shoes for William.  I know, right now you’re probably thinking ‘wow, I’ve never known Jane to not shop for herself’…well, desperate times call for desperate measures.  Here are the shoes I’ve been researching.

[And if Ann or John read this, if I EVER see William wearing a pair of Toms, I will no longer claim him-those are uglier than Crocs or Tevas-if you want to buy a pair of shoes for a child in a 3rd world country, just buy them a pair of shoes, don’t subject yourself to wearing the same shoes as them].

A New Goal

As we all know, I’m pretty new to this blog world.  I don’t take it too serious consider I only have 4 followers and I highly doubt even they read the blog.  I, basically, just use to blog as a little scrap book, so one day, I can look back and laugh at how silly I was/am.  However, it has come to my attention that in the blog world you’re suppose to post pictures--cute, colorful, pinterest type pictures.  And there are days where you need to post special stuff, like What I Love on Wednesday, Funday Friday, and post outfits that you wear.  So, I owe all 4 of my followers, an apology for my blog that lacks pictures.  I mean, to be honest, I only read books with pictures-so why would anyone read my blog with almost no pictures?  This is why I have a new goal—to bring more pictures to my blog.  While they may not be cute artistic photo made by instagram, I’ll do my best to make the blog a bit more hip.  The only thing I can actually guarantee are misspelled words, incorrect use of grammar, and random word placement-which I would like to thank Dyslexia for giving me this competitive advantage.

Off Balance

Today started out with such wonderful prospects, however, some days your equilibrium is off balance.  Apparently, today mine has been turned upside down.

It started with dropping a 25lb weight on my broken foot.  I pretended that it didn’t hurt since people at the gym saw it happen and I like to pretend I’m a BA…which is obviously untrue.  Next, I ran into the glass door of the office building.  Not sure how it happened, or what I was thinking- or lack of thinking.  I’m going to blame it on the fog.  Once in the building I decided it was a coffee type of day.  I normally don’t drink coffee since I naturally have an abundance of caffeine in my system, but today I decided I would like to drink some sugar and cream with a side of coffee.  I spilt the entire 10 oz (thanks Keurig for measuring) on myself and work papers.  I’m going to blame it on the 25 lb weight and the glass door making it a coffee day.

No matter how clumsy I am, I will never be worse off than some Alabama player’s father is when he tripped yesterday and broke the BSC Championship trophy.  Talk about a bad day.  Just try explaining that…you can’t-that’s why homeboy has remained nameless.

The day is still young, its only 10am! So I’m a bit apprehensive of what the reset of the day has in store for me.  I’m thinking it can only get better, right? One of my favorite tweets ever posted was by @SororityGirlProblems yesterday: “If Lindsay Lohan made it though her cracked-out bleached-blond lesbian jailbird phase, you can make it through today.”  This gives me hope-hope of a brighter day tomorrow.

The lesson we have learned is that everyone has bad days, yes, even myself.  While they are far and few between, a bad day will always popup out of nowhere.  When one does, try to look on the bright side-my foot is already broken, doors should never be made out of all glass, and the smell of cream and sugar excites me….and when in doubt remain nameless (or blame your mother-daaa).

Vacation in a Cubical

Some weeks I have such an exciting, fascinating life, traveling and experiencing interesting things…but not this week.  This week I’m working in the office in Bhamizzle living the ‘normal life’.  Which consists of, driving to work at the same time every day, sitting on hwy280 with the same cars, and staring at an orange cubical wall for 9 hrs.  While this sounds like a normal work week for most people, not me!!  I dream of getting off work and driving to my house, sleeping in my bed, and waking up to do the exact same thing.  Most people call it monotonous; I call it, a vacation!

With that being said, I do not have anything to blog about.  I guess I could tell y’all how I got 2 new Paleo cookbooks from the MIL (Thanks Lisa!) and how the first meal I cooked from the books resembled puke more actual food.  Or I could tell you about how cute my nephew is, but y’all already know that.  Or I could tell y’all about awesome my husband is, but y’all already know that too!  Instead, I’m going to list out my favorite quote from movies/TV….enjoy!

Okay, so you're probably going, "Is this like a Noxzema commercial or what?"  But seriously, I actually have a way normal life for a teenage girl.  –Cher in Clueless

You're 18, you don't know what you want.  And you won't know what you want 'til you're 45, and even if you get it, you'll be too old to use it.  –The father in 10 Thinks I Hate About You <<I’m pretty sure my father has said this to me>>

Oh, my God, the bend and snap works every time! – Legally Blond <<very true statement>>

Fashion knows not of comfort.- Blair from Gossip Girls <<Reason why I wore high heals with a broken foot for 3 years…I thought the pain was normal>>

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. I say, fall head over heels. Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way back. How do you find him? Well, you forget your head, and you listen to your heart. And I'm not hearing any heart. Cause the truth is, honey, there's no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love, well, you haven't lived a life at all. But you have to try, cause if you haven't tried, you haven't lived. –William Parrish in Meet Joe Black <<Probably my favorite movie of all time>>

Fu*k you, fu*k you, fu*k you, you're cool, and fu*k you, I'm out! – Scarface from Half Baked. << I daydream of saying this during work when I get that call that says I won the lottery.  Naaaa just kidding, ok maybe I’m not kidding. >>

"If you look annoyed all the time, people think you're busy"- George from Seinfeld  <<I tested this theory at work today…it worked.>>

I will leave everyone with a very big Happy Easter!  Other than the spiritual part of the holiday, the most important thing about Easter is wearing seersucker, pastel, espadrilles, and headbands.  Hold up, if you’re from Alabama, it doesn’t take a holiday to bring out this type of an outfit- this only applies for all of you Yankee folks who abide by rules and my sister.
