Happy 5th Birthday to me!

Its my birthday…again!  Normally I’d be ready to party, except I’m still mourning the Alabama loss last night.  Me and Daddy are die hard Bama fans and we both feel like our hearts got ripped out.  Despite the loss, I’ve had a wonderful 4th month of life! We moved into my new castle, I’ve got more places to fill up with toys, and I’m still cute.

Seriously, why do they dress me up in this stuff? I'm not a doll
The highlight of my month was my first Thanksgiving!  I’m not sure what the hype is all about because I don’t eat solid food yet, but I did get tons of clothes from Mimi and I got to spend the night with grandpa & Monica and Mimi! That means 2 nights with no parental units! Bingo!

After Thanksgiving I got to hang with my cousins William and Sarah.  They came all the way from Tampa to play with me! William is fun, but he doesn’t really play, all he cares about is eating M&Ms. But Sarah… she’s my favorite!  We played together almost the entire day! She’s only a wee bit bigger than me, but that doesn’t bother me—I could eat her now if I really wanted to.

Sarah is so pretty- she even poses for pictures
In other exciting news, I can now blow bubbles!!  It’s pretty fun, except when I end up spitting up all over myself.  Wanna see how I do it?  Check out the video below.

I’ve also invented a new game since the pacifier game no longer works….I call it, Babbling Baby.  This is how it works- mom and dad put me down to sleep for the night.  I pretend to sleep for about 2 hours.  Right when they go to bed and get comfortable, I start babbling- babbling VERY loud.  So loud that the monitor goes crazy.  It’s not really a cry, or a giggle…it’s more just like talking to myself.  This forces Mom or Dad to run upstairs to put my pacifier back in my mouth to shut me up.  Repeat until Mom goes crazy and lets me sleep on the couch with her.

My other game is a show stopper!!  Every now and then, when I feel like Mom and Dad aren’t paying enough attention to me while I sleep, I like to roll off the monitor pad which causes an alarm to go off.  Mom and Dad think I’ve stopped breathing, so they rush upstairs faster than a kid in a candy store to check on me.  It always gets their heart pounding….and gives me more attention.  Mission accomplished.  So all those babies out there, enjoy playing my games.  Hope you can have the success I’ve had with them.

Next month I hear some guy named Santa is going to visit and bring me toys…but only if I stop playing my naughty games.   We’ll see about that- I’ll just turn on the charm.

Hope everyone has a wonderful December!

I’ll stay cute,
LUKE

daaaaa Mom, stop taking pictues

Happy 4 Months

What a month!! I think time travels faster the older you get, because I’m pretty sure my 3rd month flew by.  Happy 4 Months to me!  Overall I had a great Birthday month, other than it ending with 4 more shots!  But that’s okay, I learned that I’m a pretty big boy!  Check out my stats (you might need this for your fantasy football league one day):  Height: 26” (90%), Weight 16lbs 12oz (90%), and Head 16.3” (40%).
Seriously, check out my belly and thigh rolls
Of course this month I had the normal weekly football game schedule.  Mom dressed me up for football Friday and game day Saturday.  I guess I like getting all dressed up, but really, I don’t…so I just spit up all over my outfit until Mom changes me back into my favorite onesies.

Watching Boston win the World Series with Daddy
Papa Phil and Grandma came to visit to check out my new house/castle.  We won’t be moving into it for awhile since mom and dad are renovating it for me, but once we move in, I’ll have my own play room- which will quickly turn into the entire house.  More house = more toys!

My favorite part of the month was getting dressed up for Halloween.  Daddy and I matched!  We were both bananas and we had a blast trick-or-treating together.  I was also a pumpkin for my nursery time at the YMCA.  It was fun and all the baby girls told me how cute I am, but then again, they always say that to me.
We make mom go bananas
Get me out of this
I’ve enjoyed my weekly stay at Mimi’s house.  I’ve got her rapped around my finger-along with Papoose, well, actually, I pretty much have all my grandparents wrapped around my finger…just where I like them.

Hope everyone had a wonderful October and Halloween!  Next up is Thanksgiving…I’ll have to start thinking about all I’m thankful for.  My list will probably start and end with milk since that’s all I really care about.

I'll stay cute,
Luke

When Mom leave the room, I get to watch TV

3-Month Birthday

Good Morning World!

What is all this talk about pumpkin flavored lattes and the government shutting down?  Who cares….its my 3-MONTH BIRTHDAY!! Whaaawhooo.  Time to celebrate!

Well, actually I’ve been celebrating all month.  It stared off by partying it up before a football game.  I believe its called tailgating.  I got to hang out with my friends Charlotte and Jack at Andy & Jenna’s while the old people watched football.  We had a blast- we sat around, ate, played, and I even got to spit up on Jenna’s guest room comforter!  Talk about a fun day!

Mom and Dad have been teaching me a few things.  I can now sit up for about 5 seconds before falling over, reach for toys, and smile and giggle.  I also notice when Mom & Dad leave me in a room by myself, even for just 2 seconds-I cry bloody murder, Its fun to watch them sprint back to me.

Sometimes I just cry because I like the way I sound
Lately I’ve been sleeping through the night.  I guess its ok. I miss the nighttime feedings- but I don’t really need them now- I’ve got rolls on my thighs so I have plenty of fat stored up.

I also store fat in my lips and cheeks
This month we also celebrated my grandma, Mimi, my great-grandfather, Papoose, AND my great-uncle, Jim’s Birthday!  They are all wonderful; I hope to grow up to be just like them!

Bday party for Mimi- so much fun I forgot to wake up.
Ain't no big thing- just driving the Caddy (thanks Uncle Jim)

My newest friend, Brock was born this month too!  We visited him at his hospital room-it brought back good memories- of eating nonstop and having about 10 nurses cater to my every whim.  Brock is super cool and has tons of blond hair!  We're going to play football at Bama together!

To finish off my 3-month birthday month, Mom & Dad took me to Tuscaloosa for a football game!  I got to hang out with all my relatives, play in Grandpa and Monica’s RV, and chill with my Tennessee friend, Hudson!!

Overall I had a wonderful month and cant wait to see what the next month birthday has in store for me! Until then, you can find me at your local spit-up competition, tailgating, or in my crib sleeping like a baby.

I’ll stay cute,
Luke
Daddy and I call this "watching football"

Letter from Luke

Hi Everyone!

Happy 2-month Birthday to me! Yea, it feels great to be 2-months old… other than having to get 4 shots today! Goodness, that was miserable, I even cried like a baby.  Although, my measurements were quite impressive.  I’m 12 lbs 14 oz (90%) and 24 3/4 inches long (75%).  Beat that Shaq.

Ain't no baby no more
Lately, I’ve done a good job at training my parents.  They'er such first-timers….all I have to do is give one big yelp and they come running, as if I was dying.  Its great.  I even play the pacifier game with them- it goes like this…I cry for my passy, they put it in my mouth, I stop crying, wait for them to get comfortable on the couch, then I spit out the passy…I do this over and over again until I get bored and eventually fall asleep.
This is how I cry.  It works 99% of the time.
Mom thought she was a hot shot because I slept through the night- but really I just forgot to wake up for the feeding.  I learned my lesson- I haven’t missed one since.

The most exciting thing to happen to me lately is football season.  I’ve heard so much about this sport. Daddy talked to me nonstop about it when I was in the womb, and I finally got to experience it first hand.   It-Was-Amazing.  Mom and Dad watched the game at a friends house, which meant I got to stay with Mimi.  She’s the best!  She holds me, sings to me, over feeds me, and tells me funny stories about daddy.  If football season means spending the day with Mimi and eating all day, then I’m ready!!

This weekend is my Baptism.  My Godparents, Ann & John, are coming in town for it- along with my other grandparents, (Grandma and Papa Neidhardt) and the rest of the in town family.  Its going to be fun to have another day dedicated to me!  My cousins, William and Sarah, are also coming!  Sarah is my age, but she is huge.  One day, I’m going to be bigger than her, but right now, she could probably eat me.

I guess that’s all for now.  I gotta eat-or cry-or go to the bathroom-or spit up…gotta do something to keep my mom on her toes.  Yall have a great week! I’ll be back for my next birthday!

I’ll stay cute,
Luke

Happy Bday Scott!

Happy 29th Birthday Scott!!  #YoureOneYearAwayFromOLD  yea, that’s right- He’s (almost) old.  We had a nice little family bday party that included going to Scott’s favorite restaurant, Outback, (its all about the bloomin’ onion) and back to the house to open gifts.  Of course I made him a bday cake in the shape of “29”…. every year I try to out do myself with his cake.  I believe last year I made him a golf cake.  I’m already brainstorming what his 30th bday cake will be….maybe in the shape of a rock, since he’ll be that old.
29 cake.
i'm so sneaky- I put trick candles on the cake! hahaha

Anywhoooo…Everything is going well here in the Farris household.  Mr. Luke is still adorable and is growing about a pound every week.  His 2-month bday is just around the corner.  If I were a betting person, I’d bet that he would be 15 lbs at his 2-month doctor appointment.  What a chunker!  Sarah, his cousin, is currently the family’s chunky baby…but she better watch her back- Luke is on a rollllll
The resident chunker...LOVE HER!!!!

He is starting to smile, although he hasn’t figured out how to use both smile muscles at the same time- so when he does smile, it’s sided/lopsided- melts my heart.

I’ve learned so much lately- like how to feed a kid, pump, and eat lunch at the same time.  However, the most important thing I’ve learned is that I’m not as smart as I thought….yeaaaaa…sounds funny- but all those little bits of advice that people gave me while I was pregnant- you know, the silly stupid little tid bits….yea- well 99% of them are right.  I wish I would have written them all down.  At the time I got annoyed with all the ‘word-of-wisdom’….but now, I realize that I have no wisdom, therefore, I should start listening when people try to help.  I told Ann this, this morning, she goes “its taken you 27 years to figure that out” (in her bossy, big-sister voice).  I guess it could be worse, I could have never figured it out.

This weekend is going to be a busy one. I’ve got the Jr. League new member retreat on Saturday morning, my BFF Taylor and her hubby are in town for a wedding, so we’re hanging out, and the Bell Center Tailgate cookoff is this weekend too!  I love being busy!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend-and when the old lady behind you in the checkout line at walmart starts to talk to you and tells you how to make a baby sleep through the night, listen.
My sweet family
