April Showers brings July Baby

Wow! What a weekend!  I don’t even know where to start…..I’m completely overwhelmed by the love at my baby shower! Huge thank you go to all of the hostess for the most perfectly planned shower and Nancy for opening up her house!  It meant the world to me to have all my friends and family at the shower.  We had family fly in from all the way from California to Florida, all to celebrate Mr. Luke!! He is sure one loved child! Everything about the day was so special to me and I cannot thank y’all enough for the love and support.

Mr. Luke got some pretty nice swag too!  I’ve decided he’s going to be the best-dressed little boy…that is, until he outgrows all the adorable outfits people got him, and I actually have to style him.  The only sad thing about the baby shower is that it appears that Luke will be a Bama fan. I know…I feel like I’ve failed Auburn. I’m sorry; although he did get one real Auburn outfit from Mrs. Lee.  Can’t wait to see the look on Scott’s face when he sees Luke in orange and blue.  Gosh Luke’s going to look good in those colors!

In other news John and William also came to Birmingham for the weekend!  Of course we made a special trip over to Nancy’s so Scott could give William M&Ms and on Sunday Scott was able to spend some time with William at Chuckle Cheese.  I’m not sure who had more fun- Scott or William…

Here are a few pictures from the weekend- wish I would have taken more!

Little Discoveries

Oh the smell of spring is in the air! Love it!  Sometimes I wonder why it can’t be spring all year long.  I guess if that was the case, we wouldn’t appreciate it as much.  So, we should thank the weatherman up above for giving us 4 seasons.

Anyway, this week, momma Neidhardt went out to Arizona for a golf tournament and won her flight!  She and her partner, Sue, won last year too, so they had to defend their title.  Now, she’s on her way to Birmingham for my baby shower!!  I cannot even express how excited I am.  I’ve been looking forward to the baby shower since…well…since I got pregnant.  Each week it would get close and closer and now its here!  Mostly, I’m excited to see all my friends and family!

Way to go Mom and Sue! Glad the countless days of practicing paid off!

Now I need something else to look forward to.  Got any suggestions?  Well, I guess we only have 10 weeks left of the pregnancy…so that’ll be my new countdown.  The thought of being a parent, responsible for making sure this little person loves God, is a law-biding citizen, and a good person baffles my mind.  Good thing he has an amazing father!!

I leave everyone with a story of prince William:
Last week, he was running around Mom & Dad’s house with just his underwear on.  After awhile of playing with his toys and being wild, he looked down and goes “THERE’S A POCKET IN MY UNDERWEAR” (like there is for all male underwear) then, a few moments later he surprisingly yells “AND THERE IS A WEEWEE IN THE POCKET!!!!!!”.  When Ann told me the story, I couldn’t stop laughing.  In fact, I still giggle every time I read the text message!  Gosh he is such a cute little kid-every new thing he discovers is such an amazing moment for him.  I can’t wait to have a little boy of my own to remind me of all the amazing little discoveries in everyday life!

People Love the Preggers

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about being pregnant it's that people love pregnant people.  Yup, its true- while the average person doesn't necessarily ever go out of their way for someone else, when it comes to a lady carrying a big baby, they do!  Here are some oddly nice things people have done for me lately (and probably only because I’m pregnant).

·         While standing in a 5 person deep line at Publix, the guy in front of me said “you probably need to get off your feet more than me, go ahead” – then the other four people did the same. So, I got to skip the line at Publix!

·          At the bank I’m working at this week, I have to walk up 2 flights of stairs and almost every day this week, someone offered to carry my computer bag.

·         While walking the dog last week, one of my neighbors saw me, busted out of her front door, and ran towards me to ask me if she could rub my belly.  Yes, that’s a bit strange, but I know the lady and she stood there talking to Luke in the sweetest motherly voice that I don’t have.  I’m sure Luke enjoyed it.

·         At work, I don’t get in trouble for wearing yoga pants or how pathetic my hair/makeup looks.

·         While shopping at Target last weekend, I overheard a lady say to her boyfriend/husband “look at that cute pregnant girl”.  I almost cried I was so happy.

·         When I flew to Dallas last month, not only did everyone stare and smile at me, but the flight attendant gave me double the packets of peanuts.  Talk about winning!

So, there is my list so far of all the nice things people do for pregnant people.  We have been bombarded with horrible stuff happening in the news, like the Boston Marathon, Waco, TX, man sending ricin in the mail…the list could go on and on, so its nice to stop and think of something nice people to for each other- no matter how small it might be.

Its Spring!!

Some exciting things are brewing here in the Farris household.  Like the Easter basket from mom (better late than never) filled with treats for Luke and some Mentos for Scott, Nellie learning how to jump on the kitchen table, and spring cleaning!  Also, while shopping lately, I’ve noticed the stores are starting to put out their 4th of July décor….which can only mean one thing- Its almost Luke’s due date!!!!

Can't wait to wear this shirt!
I’ll start with my favorite- spring cleaning!  Ever since Lisa got a storage unit and let us store some wedding gifts, I feel like our house doubled in size (maybe that’s an exaggeration).   I’ve been enjoying rearranging items (in an attempt) to make the house less cluttered.  Sitting beside our kitchen table is the Bugaboo stroller, pack-n-play, and the cow print car seat…not sure if its even possible to declutter.  Sometimes I feel like the show Hoarders- but maybe not to that extreme.   I can’t wait to have a normal sized house and a backyard for our hairy, smelly, drooly baby.

Luke got some pretty sweet swag this week! A huge thank you to Mom for the onesies, cups/bowls, and Luke’s first Big Sky shirt!!  He is going to be such a cutie at Big Sky next year with cowboy boots and shirt!!  Also, the curtains for his nursery came in and we got the proofs for his stationary!  (If y’all don’t know, I’m obsessed with paper.  My AXO big sister, Jessica Clark owns the company www.ecrustationary.com, and does fabulous work! Go check her out!!)  I can’t wait to start writing thank you notes!!  Needless to say it was a big week for little man.

Stylin' and profilin'- Thank Mom!

So pretty! Thanks Jessica!!

Woohooo Nellie- Listen what she did today.  I’m chillin’ on the couch and turn around to yell at her to stop pestering the cat, Gigi, and see Nellie on top of the kitchen table- like all four legs on the table. I nearly had a heart attack.  What was she thinking? Oh yea, that’s right, she owns this house…how could I forget.  Reason #829,971 why we need a back yard.

But wait- maybe with all this spring cleaning I’m doing we’ll have enough room for everything (dog, baby items and all!).  Wishful thinking.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend – I leave yall with a picture of my big 27 week belly!

There should be a law against horizontal strip maternity shirts.

My Hubby is Back!

And another work week begins….but that’s ok because its one more week closer to not being pregnant and having Luke in our arms.  That’s about the only thing that will get me through this long week.

Scott is backed from his work conference in San Diego!!!! Gosh last week was so hard without him- really opened my eyes to how much he actually helps me around the house.  Normally all I think he does is make a mess and take out the trash…but he does a whole lot more!! So glad to have my hubby back!!  It sounded like he had a wonderful time making business contacts and doing his presentation on some research that I didn’t understand (per the norm).  On Friday, he was able to drive by Coronado, the Navy Base where the Navy Seals train, and drove to Marietta to see The Stone Family.

I was able to keep myself entertained while he was gone by doing Luke’s first (of many) load of laundry.  I also meet up with Katie Pauley for dinner and picked up my grandfather’s (Boppy’s) wedding ring.  His ring originally had 3 round diamonds set in a square setting.  After he died, mom got the 3 stones set into individual rings (one for me, one for Ann, and one for herself) and kept the original square setting (since that’s what makes the ring so unique).  I love it- and every time I look down at it, I think of him-which kinda keeps me in check since he was such an honest, noble man.

disreguard swallen fingers...

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed our 1st spring weather weekend!!  Also, the beginning of wedding season!!! I L-O-V-E-D seeing all the beautiful brides on FB!! Can’t wait to see all the babies soon!!!

April Fool's Day!

Happy April Fool’s Day!!
Remember when you use to play jokes on people today?  Sophomore year in college, my roommate, Katie Pauley, and I played a joke on our suite mates, Lee and Sarah.  Actually, come to think of it, we played tons of jokes on them.  One time we hid an open can of tuna fish in Lee’s closet.  Gross.  Then one time we saran wrapped the toilet.

I wonder where April Fool’s Day even came from? I’m sure there is some good wives tale.  Anyway, we had a wonderful Easter weekend!!  We were able to see William, Ann, & John along with the entire Musser/Haines family.  They’re always fun to be around because there’s never a dull moment.  And we had a lovely brunch with Scott's side of the family, Momma Sita, Aunt Paula, Aunt Lynn, and Papoose!

It was also Nellie’s 2nd Birthday on Easter!  The day before she got to spend the day at the park and at her boyfriend, Champ’s, (aka Rob & Miranda’s) place.  Then on Sunday we got her a bully stick and sang happy birthday to her.  What a spoiled dog.

Happy 2nd Birthday Miss Nellie!
Luke got some sweet swag from the Easter Bunny (Aka Grandma Lisa).  And Scott and I got some nice stuff from the same Easter Bunny- nail polish and a gift card to Chick-Fil-A…guess the Easter Bunny know what we like!!  I made a little something-something for Scott- just basically all his favorite items including homemade cookies…they were all gone by Monday morning! Hahaha.

Too much to fit into an Easter Basket

Scott could live off these 7 items for the rest of his life and be happy.
Scott’s heading out of town tomorrow for a work conference in San Diego-gosh I’m so jealous!!  Cali isn’t even comparable to the places I have to go for work!  Hahaha.  He is going to be quite busy- between the actual conferences and presenting his research project, he’ll be visiting the Stone Family and the Navy Base- where he’ll pretend he’s a Navy Seal.  Sounds like a fun week!  I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Hope everyone has a wonderful April 1st and Easter weekend!! I loved seeing everyone all dressed up in their Sunday best yesterday on Facebook!!!  Spring has Sprung!

About to bust open....too bad I have 3 more months. He'll thank me later-maybe.
No need to point Scott, its hard to miss.
