The Final Countdown

Happy offical 1st day of summer!!!  Which means...the countdown till Mr.Luke’s arrives is almost up.  This week, Scott and I have been busy getting the house ready, packing our bags, finishing his nursery, charging the video camera, and countless trips to buybuybaby.  I’ve gone over and over in my head of everything we’ll need and I think I’ve got it all- however, I know no matter how well I think I prepared, something will be missing.  Yesterday, we also installed the car seat and even went over to the fire station to make sure it was correctly installed.  Team Farris-1, Car seat- 0.

Here are a few pictures of the nursery.  My favorite part is his crib and the curtains.  Many items in his nursery have an extra special meaning to us.  The rocking chair is the same chair my mother rocked my sister and me with when we were newborns.  His monogrammed bed sheets were done by a coworker, the pie chest was a handy down from Grandma Lisa, and the changing table was a gift from Grandma Karen.  His monogram on the wall is made out of used fishing rope used in Alaska- how nifty is that!  Anyway-enjoy the pics- his room will never be this clean again!

Meet Miss. Sarah Ann Musser

I am so thrilled and proud to announce the birth of my newest neice, Sarah Ann Musser on June 13th.  She was born at 12:59am weighing 7 lbs 4 oz. and she is perfect!  In fact, I don’t think God could have made a more perfect baby girl.  She has blond hair, blue eyes, and will grow up to love God, Auburn, and her Uncle Scott & Aunt Jane!

5-Years From Now

Today is my sister and John’s 5-year wedding anniversary.  I remember her wedding day as if it was yesterday and I cannot believe it’s been 5-years…in fact I’m still double checking my math to make sure it really has been 5-years.

Which, got me to start thinking about everything that has happened in 5-years…then my brain blew up.  I wonder what will happen in the next 5-years??  I have no idea.  But in an attempt to make this work day go by faster, I’ll list some possible 5-year outcomes.

·         In 5 years, Scott and I have moved out of the townhome and into a pretty house, we’re raising Luke and his sibling(s) (Sister? Brother? TWINS?!), and we’re having the time of our lives!! Living in a cute neighborhood in a house with a fenced in backyard and Nellie is outside playing with her brother, Titan (also a German Shepard).  Scott has moved up in his company and is enjoying work and I’m a spinning instructor at the local YMCA.

·         In 5-years, Scott will be bald and I’ll have saggy skin.  The most positive aspect of this is that in 5-years we’ll also have bad vision, so neither of us realize the negative side effects therefore, we remember each other as we looked when we met.

·         In 5-years, Mr. Luke will be just entering 1st grade and his sibling(s) will be watching with envy as he climbs onto the school bus.  While Luke is in the 1st grade by age, he is already reading at a 3rd grade level and has memorized his multiplication tables.  This is all thanks to Grandma Lisa, who spends countless hours teaching him along with bird watching.

·         In 5-years, I’m getting my hair colored, trying to pretend to be young again and wearing lululemon workout clothes.  Scott will be in a business suit, wheeling and dealing with the big wigs up in DC working on something that has to do with drugs.  Scott has finally learned to cook and I continue to change the pillows on our couch nonstop.

·         In 5-years, I might finally master the “I don’t care what other people think” thing that my mom always talks about.  She says you don’t master it until you get old-hence why it will take me 5 more years to master.

·         In 5- years, Scott and I have invented some amazing invention.  We were featured on the TV show, Shark Tank, and got a couple million dollars for our idea.  We decided to sell the idea and profit the cash- then we made the Farris Foundation where we help children with autism and adults with arthritis and alzheimer’s.

·         In 5-years no one will care about the Kardashians  and other mindless reality TV.  Lady Gaga will be playing on the oldies radio station in my electric minivan.

I guess 5-years from now, life doesn’t sound so bad.  That’s comforting.  During my sister’s wedding, if you told me that 5-years from now I will be married to the most amazing, selfless, attractive man and pregnant with our first child, I would have fainted out of disbelieve.  I’m so blessed and fortunate on how my life has changed and turned out 5-years after my sister’s wedding.  I cannot wait to see what the next 5-years have in store!!!

27th Birthday Week!

Happy Happy Thursday- One more day and we’re home free!  So much stuff has happened since my last blog post I don’t even know where to start!  The last week has been a whirlwind and I love it!! I must be one of those people that thrive off action/drama.  Anyway, the fun all started when Mom came in town!  I am so thankful that she was able to come for my birthday and stay extra days to help us get stuff done around the house.  Mom is the busiest retired person I know, the glue to our family, and always has some positive comment to make, even when the positive comment is pretty far-fetched. Hahaha.

On Saturday, Scott took me and the family to my favorite restaurant, Seasons 52, for my Birthday dinner!! It was lovely, especially the desserts!  On Saturday, we (me, Scott, and mom) kidnapped William and took him to Chuck E Cheese.  The last time I was at Chuck E Cheese I was 10 years old living in Knoxville.  Let’s just say, I never plan on going back again.  However, Scott and William had a blast!! Well, more like Scott had a blast.  He figured out how to out-smart one of the games and won hundreds of tickets.  Should I be proud?  Because I’m not- he is a big kid.

Flowers from Papoose- he sure knows how to spoil!!

Sweetest card from Papoose.

On Monday my coworkers surprised me and decorated my cubical for my birthday AND hosted me a baby shower at lunch!!  I cannot even begin to explain how absolutely wonderful everything was!! I’m really going to miss seeing my coworkers while on maternity leave. I will, however, not miss the work aspect though! Haha

Baby Luke loves mexican food!
On Tuesday, I went to Traffic Court in downtown Birmingham.  It was just like Judge Judy (except our judge was a big black man). Sadly, I have to go back in October since I didn’t have the correct documentation.  Whoops…The next day was another Dr. appointment.  Mom got to see Mr. Luke on ultrasound, but he wasn’t behaving so we didn’t get any good pictures.  Maybe next week he’ll show his cute face.

Mom left on Wednesday and the rest of the in town family are at the beach.  So I’m left high and dry without a driver until Monday.  Poor Scott is my only form of transportation.  Also on Wednesday, the girls took me out to Seasons 52 (yes, again) for happy hour!!  I always have a blast with them and am so fortunate that we live so close to each other to be able to get together!

Well, that’s my play-by-play of the last couple of days.  Hope y’all enjoyed it- now I need a nap just thinking about all the stuff left we have to do for Mr. Luke before his birthday!
